Helping the Animals of Denham Springs

The Humane Society of South Mississippi is going the extra mile to help pet owners and flood victims in southern Louisiana.
Volunteers and workers at the Gulfport location are collecting donations to help out shelters and pet owners in Denham Springs and surrounding areas who are having trouble providing for their furry friends in the wake of the recent flooding.
Once they’ve distributed the supplies in the area, Humane Society workers and volunteers plan on using their “love train” to transport lost or abandoned animals to some of the less crowded animal shelters in the state. Katie King with HSSM said, “We’re really in need of dog food, cat food, cat litter, dog bowls. We just want to get out there, take as many items as possible to go out into the community and give these people what they need in order to keep their pets.”
Supplies will be gathered until 6 p.m. tomorrow and delivered on Monday. Another drive is planned after that, so the Humane Society will continue collecting these donations throughout next week.
