Margaritaville Set to Open This Week

In just two days, the doors will open at the new Margaritaville Resort in Biloxi, offering a little something for everyone young and old. News 25’s Gina Tomlinson gives us a sneak peek at what we can expect to see at Thursday’s grand opening celebration.
It doesn’t have to be 5 o’clock to join the party at Biloxi’s newest family resort, Margaritaville. Chief of Operations Joe Farruggio said, “There’s nothing on the Gulf Coast that’s anything like this. It’s a wonderful place for a family to come here.”
After two years of construction, Farruggio tells News 25 it’s nice to finally see all the hard work paying off, as the resort gets into full swing.
Out of the nearly 3,000 people the company interviewed, 470 landed jobs here, opening the door to employment for locals as well as career building opportunities. Director of Marketing Jay Jordan said, “It’s really all about the people you work with that make it happen and we’ve put together an all-star team here.”
An arcade full of games, including the world’s largest Pac-Man game, is next to a giant rock-climbing volcano and the very first indoor zip-line in the United States. These are amenities that the entire family can enjoy, making this resort stand out in an area where casinos tend to cater to those 21 and older. “I was on the Coast, obviously in the casino industry, and we used to hear it a lot from our guests. ‘I would come a lot more often but there’s really not a lot to do for families’ and that wasn’t true then and it’s certainly not true now,” said Farruggio.
The climb on the side of the volcano reaches into the restaurant. When you reach the top, somebody could practically throw you fries! “The food is delicious. The portions are over the top, it’s hard to finish one meal by yourself,” said Jordan.
The resort is booking rooms right now as they wrap up the finishing touches for Thursday’s grand opening, which is set for 5 o’clock.
