Mississippi may be over 500 miles away but tonight the magnolia state will show support for Orlando with a vigil. The candlelight ceremony will honor the victims of Sundays early morning shooting at the pulse nightclub in Orlando. At least 50 dead and 53 injured in what officials are calling the worst mass shooting is U.S. history. Social activist organizations across the coast invite the public to the beach across from the Biloxi Lighthouse to mourn and grieve over this tragedy. It’s horrific it’s the largest mass shooting in modern us history. Lea Campbell told News 25, “Still kind of in shock but I know that the community needs to come together and support one another, we need to show support for our fellow Americans so that’s my focus right now.” Mississippi rising coalition teamed up with the rainbow center, “Come as you are”, the human rights campaign, and the lighthouse community church to put this vigil together. It will be from 7 to 8 pm at the beach across from the Biloxi Lighthouse. All are welcome to attend.
