Congress Honors Selma Marchers


On Wednesday civil rights activists “Reverend Frederick Reese” and representative “John Lewis” accepted congress’ highest civilian honor.

They received the congressional gold medal on behalf of all of the foot soldiers who took part in the 1965 voting rights marches the men and women who walked peacefully from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama protesting their inability to vote.
Congressman Lewis called them ordinary people with an extraordinary vision to build a true democracy in America.
