Hancock Medical Foundation raised $130,000 for the equipment at last year’s ‘Moonlight on the Bay Gala.” Hospital officials believe this new state of the art equipment will provide an extra safety net for their patients.
They celebrated this morning at the hospital to thank donors and supporters. Director of Women’s Services Bonnie Holland said, “It will help you to be able to labor more effectively. It will also help us to know whether or not we need to intervene for your baby’s safety. It also gives patients a good level of reassurance. I would say to her that it’s just like a normal monitor that we put on everybody anyway but what it’s going to do is give us added software so you won’t feel anything different or see anything different for you, but for the people providing care, it gives us a great level of comfort.”
Hancock Medical Center employees will begin using the new fetal monitoring system mid-October.
