The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency was notified of a 3.2 magnitude earthquake at 8:23 a.m. Residents in the area reported feeling rumbling in their homes but there was no damage or injuries.
This is the third earthquake in Madison County in almost two months. EMA Director Rupert Lacy tells News 25 that we are in an earthquake prone area: “This is a good reminder that you know we, as residents, we as families, we too could see earthquakes happen within region. We could respond to them or we may have to respond to it happening to us, so it’s just being prepared.”
Lacy encourages residents to look at the FEMA site or Ready.Gov for more information on how to prepare for earthquakes.
