A family gathering to celebrate a child’s birthday turned deadly early Sunday morning.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department found Kenneth Fanning, 29, suffering from multiple stab wounds in the front yard of a rental home in the 5000 block of US 90.
Hancock County investigator Glen Grannon said a group had gathered at the house to celebrate a birthday party for the suspect’s child.
The party continued into the evening and an argument broke out between the brother-in-laws.
The altercation got physical and the suspect stabbed Fanning. Neighbors say they heard the fight and it came as a shock.
“My daughter said she did, she had her window open and she could hear some arguing but other than that she didn’t pay it any attention really. It didn’t sound that serious. She didn’t know if they were just talking loud or whatever.”
A full autopsy will be complete tomorrow to determine the exact cause of death. News 25 will continue following this story and bring you details as they become available.
