Spring Break Weekend to be a Hit

From the Alabama line all the way to Louisiana, hotel rooms along the coast are nearly full.
Linda Hornsby with the Mississippi Hotel and Lodging Association says this spring break weekend is already shaping up to be one of the busiest she’s seen in a long time.
"This is right up there with probably the top five”, said Hornsby.
Not only are most rooms booked, but they’ve been reserved for months in advance.
"One of the busiest peak weekends I’ve seen in advance bookings because we’ve been looking at this for the past four weeks at least and that’s how far in advanced they were booking."
While some rooms are still available, Hornsby expects them to be gone by today.
Hotels won’t be the only places seeing more business, liquor stores also look to see their sales skyrocket.
"January, February, and March are typically a little slower than the rest of the year for us so this really does give us a nice boost to get through spring and head into the nice summer season."
Thousands vacationing on the coast ultimately means more money going back into the coast.
“These people aren’t just going to be staying in rooms I can guarantee you. They’re going to be eating in restaurants and visiting retail, we’ve always seen retail hit a huge spike on a weekend like this, and attractions."
While the large crowds mean heavy traffic, businesses could not be more thrilled for the weekend ahead.
