Marquis Saunders Arrested in Shooting Death of Jamal Jones

D’Iberville Police is continuing to interview witnesses in a murder that happened over the weekend.

The department arrested Marquis Saunders in connection with the shooting death of Jamel Jones. Saunders was processed and charged with first degree murder. He was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he will be incarcerated under a $1 million bond. Police Chief Wayne Payne wishes to thank all parties that played a part in bringing justice and closure to the families involved.

Payne says, “We certainly appreciate the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Biloxi Police Department, the coroner’s office, the DA’s office. It all played a part, and certainly our citizens. I can’t thank our citizens enough who got involved, got involved and called the police."
