Forensic Pathologist, Dr. Paul McGarry, Dies at 86

Coast forensic pathologist, Paul McGarry, died Saturday at the age of 86.

Dr. McGarry served the Mississippi Gulf Coast for more than three decades as a forensic pathologist in Harrison, Hancock, Jackson, and Stone Counties. Dr. McGarry was also the only person on the Coast who performed autopsies.

Gary Hargrove, Harrison County Coroner, says, “He was a great friend to me over the years. I’ve been knowing Doc for 35 years. Not only did he become my friend, but he became my mentor, and I looked at him like he was a second dad. I know when my dad passed away a couple years ago, Doc was there for me to talk to about some things that had gone on.”
