Jackson Co. Sheriff Names News Chief Deputy, John Ledbetter

Jackson County Sheriff, Mike Ezell, named Pascagoula Police lieutenant and longtime friend, John Ledbetter, as his Chief Deputy Friday morning.

Chief Ledbetter comes to the Sheriff’s Office from the Pascagoula Police Department, where he has worked for the past 13 years. Chief Ledbetter’s grandfather, also named John Ledbetter, was a longtime Pascagoula Police officer before becoming Jackson County Sheriff in 1976. The new chief’s first day on the job will be December 22nd.

Ledbetter says, “My plans are to support the Sheriff as much as I possibly can and his mission to move this department forward and make the folks of Jackson County proud. I want everybody to come to me and I want to be able to support all the men and women of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department as much as I can.”

Before working for the Pascagoula Police Department, Chief Ledbetter spent a year working for the Sheriff’s Department and was assigned to the adult detention center. Chief Ledbetter is a Hurley native and he and his wife, Lisa, have a five year old daughter named Carley.
