The church has held a Christmas Greek pastry sale for years, but they’ve recently added Russian food as well. The bazaar raises funds to keep the church running, which is important for the community since it is the only Greek orthodox church on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This Christmas bazaar is about more than just selling and eating good food.
George Yurchak, event coordinator, says, "We also hold church tours during the bazaar that we have here and we have somebody taking people through the church if they’re interested in hearing about it, and what each of the icons mean in the church, and about the orthodox faith overall."
There will also be Gulf Coast Hellenic dancers and Russian dancers throughout the afternoon.
