Friday, United Way for Jackson and George Counties held their final campaign event of 2014.

At Friday’s ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony, they unveiled that they raised $2,000,705.60, surpassing their $2 million goal. United Way funds 21 agencies and programs in the Gulf Coast area and makes it their mission to take care of families in the community.

Richard Lucas, President of United Way for Jackson and George Counties, says, “You know, we had a good theme this year, building a united community. I think that’s what it’s all about, and I think by us having this celebration today to show where the campaign came to, we can assure people in the Jackson and George County area that the help they need is on the way.”
