Next week, Sandy Steckler and Ronnie Cochran will face off to be the next Harrison, Hancock, and Stone County Chancery Judge.

Chancery Court handles divorces, custody battles, and wills, all cases that directly impact many families on the Coast. Steckler is the incumbent, and has served as Chancery Judge for 12 years. He says his experience in seeing thousands of cases, and now acting as a mentor on the bench, makes him the best candidate, but Cochran thinks it’s time to see a new face on the bench.

Cochran says, “The words on my campaign literature are compassion, fairness, and integrity, and those are qualities I will bring to the bench.”

Steckler says, “Having been with it for so long, I can see the patterns, I can see my decisions play out, I can see how they play out. I can see how the children have grown and benefited.”

Steckler practiced law for 35 years and Cochran for 32 years. Both are married with children and actively involved in their communities.
