Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Dynamo have signed United States national team defender DaMarcus Beasley to a Designated Player contract, the club announced on Wednesday.

Per club and league policy, terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Beasley was acquired with the No. 1 spot in MLS's allocation order, which was obtained in a trade earlier on Wednesday which sent versatile midfielder Warren Creavalle to Toronto FC.

"I am thrilled that DaMarcus will be joining our club, Dynamo president Chris Canetti said. "It's exciting to have a player with such decorated credentials here with us. I'm certain that he will be a great addition to our club and community."

Beasley started four games for Jurgen Klinsmann's team at the World Cup in Brazil and became the first American to play in four World Cups. The 32-year- old has won 120 caps for his country and has appeared in 11 World Cup matches.

"I am excited and ready to start this new chapter in my career," Beasley said. "I have heard great things from Brad (Davis) and Rico (Clark) about Houston, the team and the fans, and I'm excited to get to know them. I feel fit and ready to go and hope (head coach) Dom (Kinnear) will see my work ethic and desire to play at a high level."

"DaMarcus has had a great career, as we saw at the World Cup," Kinnear said. "To bring in a player of his quality is a big plus for the team."

Beasley joins the Dynamo after three seasons with Puebla in Liga MX, the Mexican top division. His distinguished club career includes stints with Hannover, Rangers, Manchester City, PSV Eindhoven and the Chicago Fire.
