DCU's Johnson has red card overturned

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Major League Soccer announced on Wednesday that D.C. United forward Eddie Johnson had his fine and one-game suspension rescinded by an independent review panel.

Johnson was issued a red card in the 82nd minute of United's 2-1 defeat against New England last Saturday by referee Juan Guzman, who felt that Johnson was guilty of "serious foul play" after a collision with New England's Kelyn Rowe.

However, United lodged an appeal for the play to be reviewed, and it was unanimously upheld, meaning that Johnson will be eligible to play this Saturday against Sporting Kansas City.

The 30-year-old Johnson joined United in a trade this offseason from Seattle and he has totaled one goal and one assist in 10 starts this season.
