Augusta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Phil Mickelson birdied three of the last four holes on Friday, but will it be enough for him to make the weekend?
Mickelson carded a 1-over 73 to finish 36 holes at 5-over 149. The cut line stood at 4-over 148 when the three-time champion finished.
In round two, Mickelson parred the first seven holes. After a birdie on the eighth, he stumbled to a bogey at the ninth to make the turn at plus-4.
Mickelson knocked his tee shot at the 12th into the front bunker, then blasted over the green into another bunker. His third ran back into the front bunker. Mickelson's fourth stopped about 18 feet from the hole on the back fringe and he 2-putted for triple-bogey from there.
At the 14th, Mickelson got one back as he drained a 25-footer for birdie. He made it two in a row at the par-5 15th after his second stopped about 20 feet from the cup and he 2-putted for birdie from there.
Mickelson 3-putted for bogey on No. 16, but bounced back with a birdie on the 17th. Needing birdie at 18, Mickelson's second found the left side of the green and he 2-putted for par to end at plus-5.
If Mickelson misses the cut, it would mark the first time since 1994 that both Mickelson and Tiger Woods won't play the weekend at the Masters. Both golfers missed the tournament that year.
