Recap: Washington vs. Dallas

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Vernon Fiddler tallied a goal and an assist and the Dallas Stars continued their dominance of the Washington Capitals with a 4-2 win on Friday.

Shawn Horcoff, Colton Sceviour and Tyler Seguin all scored, while Kari Lehtonen made 18 saves for the Stars, who have won three straight and five of their last six games.

"I just think it's a good feeling in this locker room on how we played tonight especially on a back-to-back," said Seguin. "That was a big two points for us."

Curtis Glencross and Evgeny Kuznetsov each lit the lamp for Washington, while Braden Holtby gave up all four goals on 22 shots. Justin Peters stopped all nine shots he faced in relief.

"I need some urgency in our room," Capitals head coach Barry Trotz said. "We need to play playoff hockey and we're not, not to the level that we need to."

The Capitals have lost their last seven games against the Stars and last won in the series on Oct. 25, 2008.

Sceviour put Dallas back in front 2-1 with 3:05 left in the first period. He drifted across the slot to the right circle and beat a screened Holtby with a snap shot.

The Stars took advantage of Joel Ward's double-minor for high-sticking as Seguin blasted a shot under Holtby's arm from the left circle 7:21 into the second.

Ales Hemsky patiently waited, dragged the puck into the slot and sent it down low to Fiddler, who tapped it in for a power-play goal and a 4-1 lead with 5:55 left in the second.

After the Capitals pulled Peters with under two minutes to play, Kuznetsov blasted a shot from the right-wing boards to account for the final margin.

Dallas opened the scoring with a power-play goal 3:25 into the game as Horcoff wristed a shot which deflected off Glencross' skate and rang off the pipe before finding twine.

Glencross tied the game with 8:36 left in the first period as he followed up his own shot and deposited the rebound past Lehtonen.
