Recap: Winnipeg vs. Minnesota

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Carter, Justin Fontaine and Marco Scandella all scored in the second period as the Minnesota Wild snuck past the Winnipeg Jets, 3-2, to split a home-and-home series.

Andrew Ladd's fluke overtime goal sent the Wild to a fifth straight loss on Saturday, but Darcy Kuemper was back between the pipes Monday and stopped the skid with a 28-save performance.

"Our guys did a great job staying with it. I'm real happy with the way we played the game, the contributions from everybody," Wild head coach Mike Yeo said.

Michael Frolik and Mathieu Perreault each scored power-play goals for the Jets, who were 4-0-1 in their previous five games. Michael Hutchinson surrendered all three goals on 31 shots.

A penalty-filled opening period saw six power-play chances, and Winnipeg capitalized first on Frolik's eighth of the season at the 16:00 mark.

Scandella's interference penalty stretched into the second, and Perreault made it 2-0 off a cross-crease pass from Blake Wheeler 20 seconds into the period.

Carter scored the first of three straight Minnesota goals less than four minutes later. Brett Sutter assisted on that one, then set up Fontaine's marker with a crisp pass in front of the net.

"We didn't back check the way we needed to on that play," Jets head coach Paul Maurice said of the second goal.

Scandella's one-timer beat Hutchinson stick-side with 11.4 seconds left before the third, and Kuemper secured the win with 11 saves in the final period, including a point-blank denial of Dustin Byfuglien inside two minutes left.
