Recap: New Jersey vs. Pittsburgh

Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Travis Zajac had one goal and an assist in the New Jersey Devils' 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.

Jaromir Jagr and Adam Henrique also lit the lamp for the Devils, who snapped a three-game skid. Cory Schneider made 26 saves.

"Now we have to make sure we play the same way in Detroit. Just build on it," said Jagr. "We can make something special. I don't want to get over-excited but we proved to ourselves we can play with anybody. I know they have a lot of guys out, but we have to battle through some tough stuff, too."

It was the first victory for New Jersey's new coaching trio of Lou Lamoriello, Scott Stevens and Adam Oates since they replaced Pete DeBoer.

Sidney Crosby scored the lone goal for the Penguins, who have dropped four straight. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 24-of-27 shots.

Crosby used a nifty move to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead at the 14:37 mark of the first period. He skated around defenseman Andy Greene at the blue line and then ripped his trademark backhand into the top of the net.

"We made a few mistakes," said Crosby. "Give those guys chances, they are used to playing a pretty patient game. It was a much different game when we had the lead. It opened up a lot. We had the lead but unfortunately couldn't build on it."

Zajac scored on the power play at 5:33 of the middle stanza. Marek Zidlicky's blast from the point left a rebound in front for Zajac.

Jagr gave the Devils a 2-1 lead at the 18:40 mark when he beat Fleury with a shot from the top of the right circle.

Henrique made it a two-goal game at 5:32 of the third. After the Penguins turned the puck over in their own zone, Henrique jammed home his own rebound.

Schneider made 11 saves in the third to secure the victory.
