Recap: Montreal vs. Tampa Bay

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - In a game as tight as the standings, the Tampa Bay Lighting finally got one past Carey Price.

Tyler Johnson scored 63 seconds into overtime, lifting the Lightning to a 1-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens in an Atlantic Division battle Tuesday night.

The Lightning improved to 3-0 against the Canadiens this season, moving within a point of them for first place in the division.

Johnson scored on a nice individual effort after carrying the puck into the zone down the left side and slipping past Canadiens defenseman Tom Gilbert to get behind the net.

His backhand attempt was turned away by Price, but the rebound went right back to Johnson, who scored his 25th goal of the season from a sharp angle on the low right side.

"I know these are regular season games, but it's just a confidence builder for our team knowing that we can come into this building and win," said Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper. "It's a tough environment to play in. It's the holy grail of hockey, and it's a lot of fun to play here."

Price, chasing what would have been a career high-tying eighth shutout of the season, made 35 saves for the Canadiens, who were coming off a 2-0 win over Arizona on Saturday for their only victory on a four-game road trip against Western Conference teams (1-2-1).

"Our team was ready to play and we understood the purpose of tonight's game," said Canadiens coach Michel Therrien. "They're a really good hockey team, a lot of speed. They're tough to play against. You could tell as the game went on that (we had a lack of energy), which was probably due to that long trip."

Ben Bishop had 19 saves for the Lightning to record his third shutout of the season and 11th of his career. He made six saves in the first period, 11 in the second and faced just two shots in the third.

The Lightning were coming off a 3-0 stretch at Amalie Arena in which they set a franchise record for home wins in a season at 26.

The only bad news came after forward Ondrej Palat took a shot off the back of his leg late in the second period and didn't return to the ice for the third.

The team said Palat has a lower-body injury.
