Recap: NY Islanders vs. Vancouver

Uniondale, NY ( - Ryan Miller and Eddie Lack provided stellar goaltending and combined for 37 saves as the Vancouver Canucks stifled the New York Islanders 4-0 on Sunday.

Miller made 10 saves, but exited with an apparent lower-body injury early in the second period. Lack was solid in relief, stopping all 27 shots fired his way.

Radim Vrbata tallied a goal and an assist and Zack Kassian, Bo Horvat and Yannick Weber also lit the lamp for the Canucks, who bounced back from Friday's loss to New Jersey and have won three of its last four games.

"Our goalies were huge. Miller was stopping everything, then Lack came in and kept it up," said Vrbata. "This is a team win."

Jaroslav Halak allowed three goals on 23 shots in New York's second loss in as many days.

"We had our chances," Islanders head coach Jack Capuano said. "At the end of the day we have to do a better job on special teams."

After a scoreless opening stanza, Kassian scored a power-play goal 28 seconds into the second period. He fired a shot from the right circle that hit the far post and caromed off Halak's leg and into the net

Less than a minute later, Jannik Hansen slid into the net and collided into Miller. The Vancouver netminder stayed down and was in noticeable pain before gingerly skating off the ice.

Vrbata increased the Canucks' lead to 2-0 while on a man advantage at the midway point of the second on a near-side snap shot from the left circle.

Almost four minutes later, Ronalds Kennis took a turnover along the right-wing boards and shuffled the puck to Horvat, who made it 3-0 with a quick wrist shot.

Lack made 19 more stops in the third period and Weber scored on an empty net with 11 seconds to play to account for the final margin.
