Recap: St. Louis vs. Pittsburgh

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Blake Comeau scored twice and added one assist to lead Pittsburgh over St. Louis by a 4-2 count at Scottrade Center.

Patric Hornqvist and Brandon Sutter posted a goal each for the Penguins, who put an end to a three-game slide which dropped them into fourth place in the Metropolitan Division.

Thomas Greiss came away with a 21-save win.

Dmitrij Jaskin and Ian Cole provided late markers for the Blues, who were coming off a 5-1 win against Boston on Friday.

Brian Elliott made 25 stops in the setback.

Pens captain Sidney Crosby appeared to have his first career score against the Blues on a try from the left circle shy of the five-minute mark of the third.

Though replays seemed to suggest Elliott trapped the puck next to his pad and inside the left post behind the goal line, the final ruling wasn't enough to overrule the original no-goal call.

Sutter ended up giving Pittsburgh a four-goal edge when he scored on a rising wrister at 12:21 of the third.

Jaskin ended Greiss' shutout bid with 5:27 to play, and Cole halved the Blues' deficit at 18:38, but the hosts had nothing else left in the tank.

Comeau put the Pens on the board with 3:29 remaining in the first period, when an errant clear hit him in the shin before he wheeled around in the right circle and scored on the backhand.

Tarasenko was forced to hold Max Lapierre to prevent a breakaway early in the second, and the visitors capitalized after Hornqvist beat Elliott just over a minute into the advantage.

Comeau struck again by redirecting a Simon Despres offering from the inner edge of the right circle at 15:38 for a 3-0 lead.

Game Notes

Pittsburgh improved to 26-5-5 when scoring first this season ... Comeau recorded his second multi-goal effort this season, following his hat trick on Nov. 26 against Toronto ... Tarasenko followed up Friday's two-goal night with a two-assist performance in defeat.
