Recap: Anaheim vs. Tampa Bay

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Steven Stamkos capped Tampa Bay's four-goal second period with his 31st of the season as the Lightning upended the downward trending Anaheim Ducks 4-1 at Honda Center.

Tyler Johnson scored the go-ahead goal, and Anton Stralman and Nikita Kucherov both lit the lamp as Tampa Bay improved to 2-1 on a five-game road trip.

Ben Bishop, who had been pulled in two of his previous four starts, picked up the win with 24 saves, while John Gibson gave up four goals on 32 shots.

The Ducks have dropped five of their last six, though they still lead the Pacific Division by a comfortable margin. Their only goal came 4:17 into the game when Patrick Maroon scored from the left doorstep.

"The first period is the way we wanted to play. For some reason, it didn't carry over," Ducks forward Corey Perry said.

Tampa Bay answered twice in a 1:24 span early in the second to take the lead for good. The first goal came at the 4:31 mark when Brian Boyle kept the puck in the zone and fired a shot on net that Stralman deflected in.

"You've got to give a lot of credit to Boyle, (J.T.) Brown and (Jonathan) Drouin because they got us going," Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said.

Johnson cashed in on a centering pass from Ondrej Palat for the eventual game- winner, and the Lightning scored twice in the final two minutes of the period.

Gibson appeared to have the puck trapped under his pads on a shot from the point from Stralman, but Kucherov poked it out before the whistle blew. The puck crossed the line with 1:55 remaining, and Stamkos added another insurance goal with 20.4 seconds showing.

Game Notes

Kucherov has eight points in his last eight games ... Tampa Bay ended a three- game losing streak in Anaheim ... Bishop improved to 4-0-1 in his career against the Ducks ... Tampa Bay went 0-for-3 on the power play ... Anaheim went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.
