Recap: Boston vs. St. Louis

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tuukka Rask made 33 saves to earn his first shutout of the season and backstop the Boston Bruins to a 2-0 win over the St. Louis Blues at TD Garden.

Patrice Bergeron and Torey Krug had the goals for the Bruins, who have won six in a row at home and snapped the Blues' six-game win streak in Boston.

"I thought our guys played well tonight against a team that's been extremely hot," said Boston head coach Claude Julien.

Brian Elliott stopped 15-of-17 shots for St. Louis, which lost for just the second time in its last 12 games. The Blues had scored 14 goals while winning their last three games.

"They kept us on the perimeter all night. I know we had a lot of shots on goal, but we weren't really a threat," said Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock.

Bergeron opened the scoring at 5:45 of the first period. Elliott stopped the puck behind his net for defenseman Ian Cole, who tried to reverse it away from a forechecking Matt Fraser. Bergeron picked off Cole's pass at the bottom of the right circle and fired the puck into an open net.

The Blues had two first-period power plays, but mustered only one shot.

Krug made it 2-0 when he gathered Matt Bartkowski's cross-ice pass, moved in from the left point to the top of the faceoff circle and scored on a wrist shot at 11:31 of the second period.

Boston appeared to go up 3-0 with nine seconds left in the second, but the goal was wiped out because Fraser made contact with Elliott.

A hooking penalty on forward Paul Stastny with 2:01 remaining in the game hindered the Blues' comeback bid. They had pulled Elliott with more than three minutes to play.
