Recap: Anaheim vs. Vancouver

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Bonino scored the lone goal of the shootout to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.

Bonino, who was acquired by the Canucks from the Ducks in the offseason for prized forward Ryan Kesler, moved the puck from his forehand to his backhand before slipping the puck through the pads of Frederik Andersen. Kesler, the third and final shooter for Anaheim, rang a shot off the post to seal the outcome.

"It doesn't get much better than that, getting the win in a shootout was something," said Bonino.

Alexandre Burrows scored a goal in regulation, while Eddie Lack made 28 saves and stopped all three Ducks in the shootout for Vancouver, which snapped a six-game losing streak to the Ducks.

Andersen made 34 stops and Sami Vatanen netted the lone goal in Anaheim's third straight defeat.

"It was a special game for me," Kesler said. "I thought we played hard but we lost in the shootout."

The Ducks were without a major part of their offense as forward Corey Perry was placed on injured reserve on Sunday due to the flu. Perry is tied with Rangers forward Rick Nash for league-lead in goals with 11.

After a scoreless first, Kesler won a faceoff back to Vatanen, who drifted across the slot and released a wrister that beat Lack for a 1-0 lead 2:37 into the second.

Burrows deflected Dan Hamhuis' slapshot in past the midway point of the middle stanza for a tied game.

Lack stopped five shots in the third period and seven more in overtime to force a shootout.
