Recap: Detroit vs. Tampa Bay

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Callahan recorded the lone score in the shootout, as Tampa Bay claimed a 4-3 victory over Detroit at Joe Louis Arena.

Steven Stamkos picked up a pair of goals and Tyler Johnson netted the other for the Lightning, who have won six in a row for the first time in more than three years.

"You find ways to win and gain confidence," said Stamkos. "We are going to try to keep this train rolling."

Ben Bishop made 17 saves and stopped all three Detroit shooters in the shootout, upping his record to 9-1-1 on the season.

Johan Franzen, Darren Helm and Gustav Nyquist supplied the offense for the Red Wings, who saw their four-game home win streak come to an end.

"We battled and got ourselves a point," Detroit head coach Mike Babcock said. "Bishop played really well in overtime."

Jimmy Howard made 27 saves in defeat.

Callahan ended the first round by making several dekes and sneaking a forehander past Howard. Bishop, who muted a Nyquist backhander, then stopped a Tomas Tatar chance and shunted away Helm's attempt to conclude the contest.

Detroit gained the game's first power play and netted the opening goal with Franzen's blast from the right circle finding net at 6:14.

Tampa had 1:51 of a 5-on-3 just after the midway point of the first, and Stamkos pumped home his ninth of the season on a blistering drive from the point at 12:53.

Stamkos put another one past Howard -- a rising wrister from the hashmarks -- with 2:19 gone in the second, then Johnson extended the Bolts' edge to 3-1 at 6:02 on a short-side score from the right circle.

Helm's first of the year, a hard shot from the left wing, pulled the hosts within one during a power play at 11:37 of the second and Nyquist evened the score with 8:49 played in the third period on a wrister.

Both Henrik Zetterberg and Kronwall missed prime chances to end the game on back-to-back shifts on shots from the left side in the late stages of overtime, but Bishop won both battles.

Howard then did the splits while seated in his crease to deny Jonathan Drouin's wraparound attempt at the left post.
