Recap: Anaheim vs. Tampa Bay

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Getzlaf broke a scoreless deadlock with just eight seconds remaining in overtime, giving the Anaheim Ducks a 1-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning that put an end to the team's five-game losing streak.

Jonas Hiller, pressed into action when expected starter Viktor Fasth suffered a lower-body injury during warmups, came up with 31 saves for Anaheim in a game that saw tremendous goaltending on both sides.

Counterpart Ben Bishop made 41 saves to nearly single-handedly keep the Lightning in it, but couldn't cleanly handle Getzlaf's attempt that barely crossed the goal line with time winding down.

"I had two cracks at it. Got it over his shoulder and, I don't know, I blacked out," Getzlaf said.

The struggling Lightning, which routed the Ducks in Tampa by a 5-1 count just eight days ago, wrapped up a tough four-game western trip with an 0-3-1 record.

"What goes around comes around. At some point that bounce will go our way, it just didn't tonight," said Lightning coach Jon Cooper.

Bishop was superb right up until the very end, when a crossup with teammate Sami Salo led to his only blemish as well as the lone goal between both sides on the night.

Getzlaf came barreling down the left side with a head of steam and while using Salo as a screen, sent a wrister that Bishop was able to block. Salo then tried to flick the rebound away but put in back on goal, and Bishop wasn't able to secure it with his glove and the puck landed just over the line before the Tampa netminder knocked it away with his stick.

Bishop was extremely sharp early on, stoning Getzlaf on a shorthanded breakaway try less than two minutes into the contest and turning aside 16 Anaheim shots during a busy opening period. He made 13 more saves in the second.

Hiller was equally as good, however, helping the Ducks successfully kill off five Tampa Bay power plays over the course of the evening en route to his second shutout of the season.
