(SportsNetwork.com) - NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan is reportedly set to become the next president of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

According to multiple media outlets, the Leafs are expected to make the official announcement Friday, with a formal press conference expected to take place Monday.

Shanahan has served various roles with the NHL since retiring as a player in 2009, including spending time as the league's vice president of hockey and business development from Dec. 2009 until 2011.

The 45-year-old Shanahan was named the NHL's senior vice president of player safety and hockey operations on June 1, 2011, replacing Colin Campbell as the league's dean of supplemental discipline.

An eight-time All-Star as a player, Shanahan was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.

Toronto was eliminated from postseason contention earlier in the week, missing the playoffs for the eighth time in the past nine seasons.
