San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Enforcer John Scott has found employment, hooking on with the San Jose Sharks on a one-year deal announced on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-8, 259-pounder gained infamy last season thanks to a pair of incidents.

In a preseason contest with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Scott -- then with the Buffalo Sabres -- instigated a fight against the smaller Phil Kessel, an action which led to a 10-game suspension for Leafs forward David Clarkson for defending his teammate.

Scott was then banned for 10 games in late October for delivering an elbow to the head of Boston's Loui Eriksson that concussed the Bruins' forward. He was also required to forfeit $26,923.05 in salary which went to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The 31-year-old winger has collected six points and 430 penalty minutes over 236 appearances for four teams.

"John brings a physical, no-nonsense element to our lineup," said Sharks general manager Doug Wilson. "As we integrate more younger players to our team, John's presence alone can act as a deterrent and help keep teams and opposing players honest."

San Jose also signed defenseman Taylor Fedun to a one-year contract. The 26- year-old blueliner made his NHL debut with Edmonton last season, participating in four games.

Fedun spent most of the year at Oklahoma City of the AHL, totaling 10 goals and 28 assists in 65 games.
