St. Paul, MN ( - The Minnesota Wild acquired goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov from the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

Bryzgalov appeared in 20 games for Edmonton this season, posting a record of 5-8-5 with a 3.01 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.

The Wild were in need of goaltending depth with Josh Harding sidelined from the effects of multiple sclerosis he was diagnosed with in 2012. He hasn't played since Dec. 31, leaving the bulk of the duties to rookie Darcy Kuemper.

"Bryzgalov is a quality veteran who adds depth to the goaltending position for our team," said Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher in a statement Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Bryzgalov has a career record of 213-157-70 with a 2.57 GAA and .913 save percentage in 445 games with the Ducks, Coyotes, Flyers and Oilers.

With the trade deadline set for Wednesday, the Wild had reported interest in future Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur of New Jersey and Jaroslav Halak, who was recently traded from St. Louis to Buffalo.

A New York newspaper earlier Tuesday cited a source as saying Minnesota had a deal in place with the Devils, pending Brodeur's approval. Another New Jersey publication quoted Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello later Tuesday as saying the report was inaccurate.
