Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Texans are expected to release safety Ed Reed on Tuesday after the veteran spent less than one season with the club.

While the Texans haven't officially made the move, the Houston Chronicle is reporting the release and Reed seems to know his fate, tweeting "Thanks to the Texans! And the City of HTown!" on Tuesday.

Reed signed a three-year, $15-million deal with the Texans in the off-season. However, injuries and off-season surgery denied him time on the field at the beginning of the year. He saw his first action with the club in Week 3 and recently lost his starting job.

After Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Reed was critical of the Texans coaching staff, saying the team was "outplayed" and "outcoached." Reed played just 12 snaps in the game.

Reed had spent his entire 11-year career with in Baltimore after the Ravens selected him with the 24th overall pick of the 2002 draft. The Miami-Florida product has led the league in interceptions three times, totaling 61 in 160 career games. He has taken a pick back for a touchdown seven times.

A nine-time Pro Bowl selection, Reed helped the Ravens to the Super Bowl last season. He had four interceptions and 58 tackles in 16 regular-season games last year.

This season, he has just 16 combined tackles in seven games.
