Recap: Baltimore vs. San Francisco

Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Tucker hit three field goals and the Baltimore Ravens rolled to a 23-3 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the preseason opener for both teams Thursday.

In a rematch of Super Bowl XLVII, it was the Ravens again coming out on top as Bernard Pierce's touchdown run in the first quarter gave the team all the points it needed.

Baltimore running back Ray Rice saw limited action as he carried the ball three times for 17 yards. Rice has been suspended for the first two games of the regular season following his arrest earlier this year on charges he hit his now wife in an Atlantic City casino, but he can participate in all preseason activities.

San Francisco is looking to return to the NFC championship for a fourth straight time under Jim Harbaugh. The team lost to Seattle in the conference championship game last season.

The big offseason move for the 49ers was the signing of quarterback Colin Kaepernick to a long-term contract. He played in one series and guided the team to its only score.

With Kaepernick under center, the 49ers started the game with the ball and went 66 yards in seven plays before getting a 25-yard field goal from Phil Dawson for a 3-0 lead.

The Ravens came right back, with Joe Flacco guiding an 80-yard drive that was finished off by a 2-yard touchdown run from Pierce for a 7-3 advantage.

Baltimore's next drive spanned the first and second quarters, and Tucker finished it off with a 42-yard field goal for a 10-3 lead.

Each team had a turnover later in the second quarter, with a Justin Forsett fumble preceding an interception thrown by San Francisco's Blaine Gabbert.

The Ravens got the ball back with 4 1/2 minutes to play in the second quarter, and Tucker's 22-yard field goal in the final minute allowed Baltimore to take a 13-3 lead into the break.

Tucker's 55-yard field goal with 2 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter were the only points of the third, while Tyrod Taylor and Jeremy Butler connected on a 7-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to account for the final score.
