Recap: LA Clippers vs. Boston

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - DeAndre Jordan scored 19 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked six shots to help the Los Angeles Clippers survive a late Boston Celtics rally in Monday's 102-93 win.

The Clippers led by as many as 23 in the third quarter but allowed the Celtics to get as close as three late in the game before escaping with their third win in their last four games.

Blake Griffin led Los Angeles with 22 points and the Clippers also received 16 points from both J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford.

Boston fell for the fifth time in its last six games despite getting 59 points from its bench. Brandon Bass paced the Celtics with 17 points and Marcus Thornton chipped in 15 while shooting 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Marcus Smart scored 14 with four triples and seven assists, and Evan Turner contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Turner's 3-pointer early in the second half cut Boston's deficit to 51-42. Los Angeles proceeded to go on a 20-4 run to extend its lead to a game-high 23 points. During that stretch, the Clippers hit 9-of-11 shots while the Celtics shot just 11.1 percent.

"We played with great pace in the third quarter," said Redick. "When we play with pace, we are a very good offensive team."

With the big lead, the Clippers brought in some reserves which provided the Celtics a chance to get back into the game. Bass scored the final seven points of the quarter to bring Boston within 74-62 after three quarters.

Despite allowing the Clippers to shoot 50 percent in the final quarter, the Celtics were able to chip away at the deficit with their own hot shooting. They hit their first five attempts from beyond the arc in the period with Thornton and Smart each netting a pair.

Thornton's 3 with 3:50 to go made it a one-possession game, but Los Angeles tightened up its defense the rest of the way. The Clippers scored eight of the next nine points, and the Celtics shot just 1-of-5 from the field after the Thornton triple. Chris Paul's 3 with 48 seconds left punctuated the win.

"We can't be down by that much," said Celtics coach Brad Stevens. "We took a lot of contested shots in the first half, and that's not good. We were better in the second half. We closed it to three, but we missed a couple of good looks down the stretch."

The Clippers jumped out to an 11-2 lead on Jordan's alley-oop courtesy of Griffin, and Redick's jumper a minute later gave Los Angeles an 11-point lead. The Clippers led 23-17 after one quarter.

Austin Rivers hit his first basket as a Clipper early in the second period that started a 7-0 spurt and put Los Angeles up 37-23. With six seconds left in the half, Crawford's 3 staked the hosts to a 47-37 lead at the break.
