Recap: Dallas vs. LA Clippers
Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - DeAndre Jordan's monster effort on the glass helped the Clippers overcome the loss of Blake Griffin, at least for one game.
Jordan posted 22 points and a career-high 27 rebounds to lead Los Angeles to a 115-98 rout of the Dallas Mavericks.
Jordan has been a man among boys on LA's annual "Grammy's Road Trip." The NBA's leading rebounder collected his second 20-20 game over his last five, but the Clippers, who recently lost their All-Star Griffin to a staph infection in his right elbow, are just 1-4 during that five-game stretch.
"I thought it was a great team win," said Clippers coach Doc Rivers. "Jordan was - I don't know why people don't vote for him. It's too late. But, my gosh - 27 and 22 is dominant."
They will return home to host Houston in the final game before the All-Star break following a 3-5 road trip.
Griffin underwent successful surgery on Monday and is expected to miss at least three weeks.
Chris Paul, who will represent the Clippers in New York during All-Star weekend, tallied 25 points and 13 assists and Jamal Crawford poured in 22 points off the bench to help LA snap its four-game losing skid.
Dallas never had much of a chance after losing starters Monta Ellis and Tyson Chandler in the early stages of the first quarter. Ellis, Dallas' leading scorer, left the game with a left hip injury while Chandler, its leading rebounder, exited after injuring his left ankle.
"Obviously it hurt losing two of our main guys," said forward Chandler Parsons. "We shot ourselves in the foot a lot with silly turnovers and bad shots."
Charlie Villanueva picked up some of the slack with a season-high 26 points off the bench.
The Clips distanced themselves with a 14-0 run midway through the second quarter. Hedo Turkoglu hit a pair of 3s during the spurt, and Matt Barnes capped it with a driving layup.
It was 66-53 at halftime, and the lead reached 20 early in the fourth quarter before Los Angeles rolled to the finish line.Game Notes
