Recap: Philadelphia vs. Boston

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Carter-Williams tallied 21 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and six assists to help the Philadelphia 76ers outlast the Boston Celtics, 113-108, on Monday.

The Celtics had possession trailing 111-108 with 15.3 left to play. Rajon Rondo dribbled the clock down and dished to Chris Johnson for what appeared to be a game-tying 3-pointer with less than a second remaining. The basket was nullified, however, when officials ruled that Johnson had a foot out-of- bounds, helping the Sixers hold on for the victory.

Tony Wroten scored 20 and Thaddeus Young added 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for Philadelphia, which snapped a four-game skid in its final home contest of the season.

"We executed down the stretch. We made some big plays and we got some big stops," Carter-Williams said.

Henry Sims contributed 13 points and Brandon Davies and Elliot Williams had 11 and 10 points, respectively off the bench.

Kelly Olynyk poured in a career-high 28 points and grabbed nine boards, Jeff Green netted 27 points and Avery Bradley added 23 for the Celtics, who have lost 15 of 18. Rondo totaled eight points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds in defeat.

Less than a minute into the fourth, Philadelphia went on a 9-2 spurt to push the margin to nine after Young split a pair from the line. The 76ers led 97-88 with eight left to play.

With just under seven remaining, Green scored eight straight for Boston to cut the deficit to 99-96. Young responded with a trey, however, Olynyk knocked down a triple with 3:15 left in the game to bring Boston back within three.

Sims split a pair from the line following the Olynyk 3-pointer, which Olynyk then followed with a pair from the stripe to cut the Celtics deficit to 105-103 with two minutes left.

Carter-Williams split two from the line before Wroten knocked down two free throws to give Philadelphia a 108-103 advantage with 1:24 remaining. Then, Olynyk nailed a jumper which cut the deficit to three

After a Sims jumper and 1-of-2 from the line by Wroten, Green nailed three free throws to make it a one-possession game before the aforementioned miscue by Johnson.

Boston trailed by 17 with five minutes left on the clock in the third quarter. The Celtics then used a 16-3 tear, with 11 points supplied by Bradley, to pull within four points. Philadelphia led 86-84 heading into the final 12 minutes.

Earlier in the second quarter, the 76ers used a 12-2 burst to take a 51-40 lead. After trading several scores, Philadelphia closed out the half with a 12-4 run and carried a 67-50 lead into the break.

The first quarter featured four lead changes and three ties, with Boston gaining the largest lead of 10 points. Philadelphia, however, came back and knotted the game at 33 apiece heading into the second.
