Recap: Portland vs. Orlando
Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Nicolas Batum recorded his second triple- double of the season and LaMarcus Aldridge finished two points shy of a season-high as the Portland Trail Blazers dominated the fourth quarter to rout the Orlando Magic 110-94 from Moda Center.
Batum finished with 14 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds in his second game with a protective splint on his left hand after breaking a finger last week. Batum now has four career triple-doubles.
Portland trailed entering the fourth quarter but outscored Orlando 39-19 in the decisive frame.
"For too long, we let (Orlando) stick right there with us. It all changed in the fourth quarter," Batum said.
Aldridge scored 36 points on 16-of-25 shooting to help Portland avoid its first three-game losing streak of the season. Wesley Matthews chipped in 17 and Damian Lillard, who dropped a career-high 41 points on Tuesday, had 11.
All five Magic starters reached double figures in the setback, led by Arron Afflalo's 22 points. Jameer Nelson had 17 with 10 assists and Glen Davis and Victor Oladipo netted 16 and 14 points, respectively.
"We contained the 3-point shooting in the first three quarters and they end up making 3's in the fourth," Orlando head coach Jacque Vaughn said. "That's a good team."
The Blazers shot just 28-of-67 in the first 36 minutes but it was a different story in the fourth. Matthews scored the first five points for a 76-75 Portland lead. Then Thomas Robinson, who was planted on the bench until the final period, finished an acrobatic layup to the delight of the home crowd.
Lillard's corner 3 extended the Blazers' lead to five points. Afflalo's jumper cut it to three, but Mo Williams potted a triple before Robinson made some more noise, swatting Davis' layup and scoring on the other end. Aldridge then hit consecutive jumpers and Lillard hit another bomb to put the game away.
The first half featured seven ties and seven lead changes. Afflalo's technical free throw started a 14-2 run midway through the second quarter, but Aldridge kept Portland close. Orlando led 51-45 at intermission.
The Blazers tied it at 53-apiece early in the third, but 8-0 and 7-0 Orlando surges during the period kept the visitors in front heading into the fourth.Game Notes
