Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Los Angeles Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue has agreed to join the Cleveland Cavaliers as the team's associate head coach.

Lue, a finalist for Cleveland's head coaching job that eventually went to David Blatt, had been an assistant under Doc Rivers with both the Clippers and Boston Celtics for a total of three seasons. In his lone year in Los Angeles, the Clippers posted a 57-25 record and captured the franchise's first-ever Pacific Division title.

The 37-year-old Lue also played 11 years in the NBA as a point guard with seven different teams, and was a part of back-to-back league championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1999-2000 and 2000-01.

"I could not be happier that Ty will be joining the Cavaliers' coaching staff as my top assistant," said Blatt, named Cleveland's head coach last week following successful stints in both Europe and Israel.

After concluding his playing career in 2009, Lue also spent two seasons as the Celtics' director of basketball development before becoming a member of Rivers' staff.
