Recap: Toronto vs. Tampa Bay

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - A Sean Rodriguez fly to center brought home Wil Myers with the deciding run in the top of the 10th inning, as Tampa Bay claimed a 6-5 decision over Toronto in the rubber match of a three-game set.

Brandon Guyer doubled twice among his three hits, while Logan Forsythe, Ryan Hanigan and Kevin Kiermaier knocked in a run each for the Rays, who also benefited from solo homers by Ben Zobrist and Yunel Escobar.

Jake McGee (5-2) gave up the game-tying homer to John Mayberry Jr. in the bottom of the ninth but was credited with the win. Jeff Beliveau retired the only batter he faced in the 10th for his first save.

Chris Archer started and scattered three hits and one run, fanning nine with three walks.

Adam Lind clubbed a three-run homer and Edwin Encarnacion added a solo blast for the Blue Jays, while starter Mark Buehrle gave up four runs on nine hits over his six-frame outing.

Brandon Morrow (1-3) was charged with the lead run over his one-plus innings in relief.

Morrow departed after Myers walked and Forsythe's single moved him to third. Brett Cecil was summoned, only to walk Escobar after Forsythe swiped second. Rodriguez then posted his sacrifice fly to give his club a one-run edge.

Brandon Gomes struck out Jose Reyes and retired Jose Bautista on a pop up behind the plate before Beliveau induced a game-ending popout to second from Kevin Pillar.

"This time of year, there's really no room for error," Toronto manager John Gibbons said. "It's one of those games where not much is happening, and you come back, strike quick, and now the momentum's on your side, and everyone is upbeat and you come back and end up dropping it like that."

Tampa opened the scoring in the third inning. Rodriguez doubled, moved up on a flyout and scored on a Kiermaier grounder. Zobrist followed with his 10th homer of the season.

It was 4-0 for the Rays in the fourth. Evan Longoria singled, went to third on a Myers double and scored on a Forsythe grounder. Later in the frame, Myers came in on a base hit from Hanigan.

Encarnacion provided Toronto's first answer with a solo homer in the seventh, but Escobar countered in the eighth to restore the visitors' four-run spread and endured some heckling from the partisan crowd.

"I have no problem with the treatment by Blue Jays fans," Escobar said. "I come here and I enjoy playing. They're great fans. I have no problem with the fans, and I just want to come here and play and help our team win."

Grant Balfour nearly undid all of Archer's work as he entered in the eighth. Reyes and Bautista hit back-to-back one-out singles ahead of Lind's three-run blast which pulled the Jays within 5-4. After Encarnacion flied out, Joel Peralta fanned Dioner Navarro to end the frame.

McGee was one out away from locking down a Rays win, when Mayberry's low liner to left barely cleared the wall for his first American League home run.

Game Notes

Toronto claimed the season series with 11 wins in 19 games, though taking just five of nine at Rogers Centre ... Escobar also had three hits for Tampa Bay.
