Recap: NY Mets vs. Washington

Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals have owned the New York Mets this season, except when Gio Gonzalez takes the mound.

New York snapped a 12-game home losing skid to Washington with a 4-3 win on Friday in the second installment of a four-game series.

Travis d'Arnaud drove in two runs and Eric Young Jr. scored twice for New York, which has taken down Gonzalez in all three wins against the Nationals this season. The Mets are 3-1 when Gonzalez starts against them and 0-10 in all other games versus the NL East leaders.

"It's really nice. We've played them good, but they're just really tough," Mets manager Terry Collins said.

Gonzalez (8-10), who won in his first start against the Mets this year before dropping three straight, gave up four runs -- three earned -- in 6 2/3 innings. Anthony Rendon went 3-for-5 with a home run and Adam LaRoche reached base in all five plate appearances, singling in a run in the third inning and walking four times.

Dillon Gee (7-7) went 5 1/3 innings for the Mets, yielding three runs on nine hits.

The Mets loaded the bases against Gonzalez in the bottom of the first inning and d'Arnaud delivered, crushing a double to deep left field. Young and Juan Lagares scored easily and Lucas Duda jarred the ball free from catcher Wilson Ramos with his slide. D'Arnaud was stranded on third, but the Mets owned an early 3-0 lead.

"The first inning was kind of shaky, leaving the ball up," Gonzalez said.

Washington got two back in the third, with Rendon's double starting things off. LaRoche knocked him in with a single to left-center and Ramos plated LaRoche three batters later.

Rendon led off the fifth with his 20th homer of the season to tie the score, but Lagares restored New York's lead with an RBI double in the bottom half.

Carlos Torres tossed 1 2/3 no-hit innings in relief of Gee. Jeurys Familia struck out two in the eighth and Jenrry Mejia pitched around a leadoff single to record his 26th save.

Game Notes
