Recap: Toronto vs. Chicago Cubs

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Jose Bautista's three-run double in the seventh inning led the Toronto Blue Jays to a 9-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.

Bautista finished with four RBI, Munenori Kawasaki and Jose Reyes each brought in two runs and Kevin Pillar and Edwin Encarnacion supplied three hits apiece for the Blue Jays, who have won three straight and eight of their last 10 games.

Mark Buehrle (12-9) gave up 10 hits and two runs with three strikeouts over seven innings for the win.

Javier Baez had two hits and two runs scored, while Welington Castillo supplied three hits and an RBI for Chicago, which dropped its fifth straight game.

Neil Ramirez (2-2) was tagged with the loss after giving up two runs in the seventh. Starter Jake Arrieta allowed two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts across 6 1/3 frames.

The Cubs have been outscored 17-2 in the first two contests of this three-game set.

"It wasn't necessarily for lack of effort, but I think it is something where we have to regroup and get our mind back around just playing the game," said Cubs manager Rick Renteria.

Trailing 2-1, Toronto scored three runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth to take command of the game.

Pillar hit a one-out single off Arrieta in the seventh. Colby Rasmus greeted Ramirez with a base hit to center and Kawasaki worked a walk to load the bases. Ramirez fanned Reyes for the second out, but Bautista stroked a double to the left-field corner off a full count to clear the bases and put Toronto ahead, 4-2.

"Bases loaded, full count, I was more relaxed than anything, just trying to get a good pitch to hit," said Bautista.

Adam Lind hit a leadoff triple past a diving Matt Szczur in center field for the Blue Jays to start the eighth. He was replaced by pinch-runner Steve Tolleson, who came home on Navarro's base hit to right. Danny Valencia followed with a double to left.

After Pillar struck out, Brian Schlitter intentionally walked Rasmus. Kawasaki poked a grounder into right to bring in two more runs. Rasmus scored on a fielder's choice, and Bautista grounded into a force out at second to account for the final score.

The Cubs started the scoring in the first. Baez doubled down the left-field line, stole third base and raced home on Jorge Soler's sacrifice fly.

Chicago tacked on a run in the fifth. Baez hit a one-out single and Luis Valbuena was hit in the wrist with a pitch before Castillo brought in Baez with a liner to left for a 2-0 lead.

The Blue Jays got within one during the home half. Reyes' fly ball dropped into shallow center field to bring home Ryan Goins, who hit a one-out double and moved to third on a wild pitch. Reyes hustled to third after Arrieta's pickoff attempt got past Valaika at first base and into right field. Arrieta escaped further damage, however, by getting Bautista to fly out to right.
