Recap: Boston vs. Baltimore

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Alejandro De Aza hit two homers, part of a 3- for-4, three-RBI effort at the plate, as Baltimore claimed a 4-1 decision over Boston in the second edition of a four-game series from Fenway Park.

Adam Jones also went deep for the Orioles, the AL East leaders who have taken three in a row and six of their last eight to maintain a sizeable lead over the Blue Jays and Yankees.

Chris Tillman (12-5) scattered six hits and one run over five innings, striking out five and walking two. Zach Britton closed out the game with a scoreless ninth to earn his 34th save.

Xander Bogaerts collected two hits including a solo shot for the Red Sox, who have lost three straight and five of seven. Anthony Ranaudo (3-2) was charged with six hits and four runs over just 3 1/3 frames.

"Ranaudo didn't get away with many mistakes," said Red Sox manager John Farrell. "Pitches were elevated in the strike zone."

Nick Markakis walked the start the contest and De Aza cleared the low wall in right center for a 2-0 O's edge.

De Aza struck once more in the third, depositing this pitch just beyond the bullpen in right-center. Jones followed with his moonshot which landed somewhere beyond the seats atop the Green Monster that provided a four-run cushion for Baltimore.

"Middle-in, knee-high, those are the types of pitches I like to pull," said De Aza, who hit both of his home runs to right field. "

Bogaerts reached the seats in left center and the Sox were behind 4-1 in the fourth.

David Ortiz had two prime chances to get his club back into the contest, but failed each time. He fanned with two in scoring position in the home third, then hit into an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play with the bases loaded in the fifth.

Bogaerts walked to kick off the ninth, then Carlos Rivero followed with a double but the former was throw out easily at the plate trying to score on the hit. It made Britton's job easier, as he settled in to retire the next two batters and end the contest.
