Recap: Cleveland vs. Chicago WSox

Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Carlos Carrasco fired 8 2/3 scoreless innings in the latest pitching gem for the Cleveland Indians, who completed a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox with Sunday's 2-0 decision.

Carrasco (7-4) allowed just four hits while striking out eight in following up Corey Kluber's complete-game effort in Saturday's 3-1 Indians' win. Cody Allen got the final out with the tying run aboard to register his 19th save.

"When you get good pitching, it makes everything look better," Indians manager Terry Francona remarked.

Michael Brantley went 2-for-3 with an RBI single to pace Cleveland offensively, with Michael Bourn and Roberto Perez each recording two hits and a run scored in the victory.

Scott Carroll (5-10) was dealt a hard-luck loss for a Chicago team that mustered just two runs in the series and has now dropped four straight and 14 of 18. The right-hander was touched for a pair of runs over seven-plus innings.

"Their pitching, all three nights, was great," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said of the Indians.

Carroll's afternoon didn't begin well, as Bourn belted his fourth pitch of the game into the gap in left center for a triple and Brantley singled the leadoff man home two batters later for a 1-0 lead.

It turned out to the be the lone run until the eighth inning -- and the only one Carrasco needed.

The Cleveland starter set down 13 of the first 14 Chicago hitters and yielded just two hits until Adrian Nieto singled to begin the ninth, ending a string of 11 straight batters retired by Carrasco.

"He had great stuff," Ventura said of Carrasco. "He had a lot of life on his fastball. You could see by some of the swings, the movement that he had, [that] he was fantastic."

His teammates gave him a little more breathing room after loading the bases with one out in the eighth on singles by Perez and Bourn and an intentional walk to Brantley. Carlos Santana then pushed home Perez with a groundout.

Carrasco got the next two out after Nieto's ninth-inning hit but was removed after Jose Abreu singled to keep Chicago's hopes alive. Allen snuffed out the threat, however, by getting Conor Gillaspie to line out to center.

Game Notes

Carrasco improved to 4-0 with an 0.70 ERA in six starts since rejoining the Cleveland rotation in mid-August ... Brantley extended his hitting streak to 11 games ... The White Sox went 2-7 at Progressive Field this season and have dropped 15 of 18 in Cleveland since the start of the 2013 campaign.
