Recap: Chicago WSox vs. Baltimore

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Tillman turned in yet another strong road start, tossing eight innings of one-run ball to guide the Baltimore Orioles to a 5-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

Tillman (10-5) has been one of the best pitchers in the majors away from home this season. The 26-year-old hasn't lost in 14 road starts, improving to 7-0 after this one.

"Without a doubt the guys on the mound have been there while we're trying to straighten some things out offensively," said Baltimore manager Buck Showalter. "They're the reason we've been able to win consistently."

Tillman allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out nine.

Nick Hundley homered and Chris Davis drove in two runs for the Orioles, who have won three in a row and improved to 8-3 over their last 11 games.

Jose Abreu was the lone bright spot for Chicago, cranking his 32nd home run of the season to produce the lone run. Abreu tied Orioles' slugger Nelson Cruz for the most home runs in the American League.

Jose Quintana (6-10) allowed four runs on eight hits to absorb the loss.

"Offensively we just didn't get anything going and we've been that way for a couple of days now," said Chicago manager Robin Ventura. "We haven't really gotten any rallies or big hits to get things going."

Baltimore got to Quintana quickly, with Steve Pearce doubling to left with one away in the first and Adam Jones chopping an RBI single past shortstop.

Abreu erased the 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the first with his home run.

Chicago got singles from Conor Gillaspie in the second inning and Alejandro De Aza in the third, but neither runner advanced past first base. Tillman didn't allow another hit over his final five innings.

Quintana settled down after the first stanza but fell apart in the sixth. Jones doubled to put himself in scoring position for Delmon Young, whose two- out single to center proved to be the game-winner.

J.J. Hardy extended the inning with a single to set up Davis' two-run double to right.

Hundley led off the seventh with a homer against Daniel Webb to pad the cushion.
