Recap: Houston vs. Seattle

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Young struck out eight and yielded just a pair of solo home runs over seven strong innings Wednesday to guide the Seattle Mariners to a 5-2 win and a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros.

Young (8-4) didn't allow a hit besides the two homers and improved to 3-0 over his last four starts.

Enrique Hernandez and Marwin Gonzalez, the No. 8 and 9 hitters in Houston's lineup, hit the home runs to give the hosts a 2-0 lead through five innings. Seattle rallied in the sixth against Brad Peacock, however, to climb in front.

Peacock (2-5) was charged with four runs on six hits, departing with one out in the sixth. Anthony Bass, who was activated off the 15-day disabled list prior to the game, tossed 1 2/3 one-run innings in relief.

Gonzalez finished with two of Houston's three hits, as the top seven in the order hit a combined 0-for-24 with a walk.

"Offensively, we did not swing the bats well," said Astros manager Bo Porter.

Logan Morrison drove in two runs for Seattle, winners in four straight. Robinson Cano scored twice.

Gonzalez broke a scoreless tie with one out in the bottom of the third inning, smacking a solo shot to right field. Hernandez made it 2-0 with his first major league homer two innings later, a shot to left-center field.

Peacock stymied Seattle through five innings, allowing just three singles.

"Early on we were pretty flat," said Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon. "(Peacock) was pitching pretty good. We were fortunate to get back into the ball game."

James Jones hit a one-out single in the sixth, Cano was plunked and Kyle Seager drew a walk to load the bases. Jones came around to score the first run on a wild pitch and Morrison made it 3-2, plating a pair of runs with a double to right. Buck added an RBI single, chasing Peacock from the game.

Seager produced the final run with an RBI single off Bass in the top of the seventh inning.
