Recap: Philadelphia vs. Chicago Cubs

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Travis Wood spun eight scoreless innings of three-hit ball to help guide the Chicago Cubs to a 3-0 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies in the rubber match of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday.

Wood (7-5), who carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, fanned six and walked three to win his second straight start.

"He threw the ball well," said Cubs manager Rick Renteria. "He made some big pitches when he had to."

Neil Ramirez threw a clean ninth inning to capture his third save of the season.

Starlin Castro finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Anthony Rizzo connected on a solo home run and Nate Schierholtz drove in a run for the Cubs, who won a series in Philadelphia for the first time since a three-game set from April 6-8, 2001.

A.J. Burnett (4-6) tossed eight innings, allowing three runs on eight hits while fanning four to absorb the loss.

"I got to go out there and try to get outs," said Burnett. "I can't worry about that (lack of run support)."

Ben Revere and Jimmy Rollins each had a hit for Philadelphia, which has lost two of its last three. Rollins extended his hit streak to 10 games one day after breaking Mike Schmidt's all-time franchise hit record.

Rizzo blasted a solo home run over the right-field wall to give the Cubs an early advantage in the first.

Castro made it 2-0 in the third with a two-out, RBI base hit to left, scoring Justin Ruggiano, who singled and moved to third on a wild pitch and a groundout.

The Cubs added a run in the sixth on a pair of doubles. Castro led off with one to left and Schierholtz drove him in with a two-bagger into the left- center field gap.

The Phillies' best chance to score came in the sixth.

After Revere broke up Wood's no-hit bid with one out on a single to right, Rollins followed with a base hit. Wood was able to escape by getting Chase Utley and Marlon Byrd to pop out to keep the shutout intact.
