Recap: Seattle vs. Texas

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Leonys Martin's RBI single in the ninth helped the Texas Rangers to a 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday in the middle tilt of a three-game set.

Luis Sardinas blooped a one-out single into left off Seattle closer Fernando Rodney (1-3). Following a groundout from Rougned Odor that allowed Sardinas to move into scoring position, Martin ripped a single past third baseman Kyle Seager to put the Rangers in front.

The Rangers, who have won three straight, took the opener of the series with a run in the ninth on Friday.

Neal Cotts (2-3) earned the win after pitching 1 2/3 innings in relief and Joakim Soria pitched the ninth for his 15th save of the season.

"The bullpen was outstanding," We kept battling in our at-bats. If you put the ball in play good things can happen and it did for us tonight."

Robinson Chirinos homered and drove in two, while Adrian Beltre knocked in the other run for Texas.

John Buck, Robinson Cano and Stefan Romero each had an RBI for the Mariners, who have dropped five straight.

The M's loaded the bases with one out in the seventh and Cano poked a single just in front of a diving Alex Rios in right to tie the game at 3-3. Pinch- hitter Dustin Ackley was then called out on an infield fly and Logan Morrison struck out to keep the game knotted heading to the eighth.

"I was proud the way the guys battled," said Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon. "A lot of good things happened."

Earlier, a nice defensive sequence from Seattle kept the game scoreless in the second when Chirinos ripped a double into the gap in right center. Brad Snyder, who walked with one out, tried scoring all the way from first, but Cano whipped his relay throw to Buck and Snyder was nabbed at the plate.

The Mariners loaded the bases with one out in the third, but Cole Gillespie grounded into an inning-ending double play to keep zeros on the board.

Seattle broke through in the fifth on a Romero sacrifice fly.

Buck and Seager singled to open up the fifth and Romero knocked Buck in with a sacrifice fly to give the Mariners their first run of the series.

Shin-Soo Choo singled to open the top of the sixth off Danny Farquhar and Beltre followed with a looping double into the left-field corner that tied the game at 1-1.

Following back-to-back strikeouts of Rios and Snyder, Chirinos lifted a 1-2 curveball over the wall in left to give the Rangers a two-run lead.

With two outs in the home half of the sixth, Buck laced a single up the middle that plated Cano to cut the deficit in half.

Joe Saunders toed the rubber for Texas and surrendered two runs on eight hits over six innings of work ...
