Recap: Philadelphia vs. NY Mets

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Reid Brignac delivered an RBI single to the wall in left field in the bottom of the 14th inning to lift the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-5 win over the New York Mets in the second installment of a five-game series from Citizens Bank Park.

"We've come up with some clutch hits. And that's what it takes to get this team going," Brignac said.

Marlon Byrd led off the 14th against Jenrry Mejia (4-2) with a routine fly to right, but heavy winds tricked Chris Young and the ball was dropped. Carlos Ruiz then roped a liner into center to put runners on the corners and Cesar Hernandez was walked intentionally to load the bases for Brignac. After missing badly on a first pitch fastball, Brignac connected on the second pitch of the at-bat and drove it to the wall, easily plating Byrd for the first run since the fifth inning.

"I was looking dead at it when it was coming down," Young said of the error. "I can't explain it. I have no idea how I dropped a routine fly ball, but it happened."

Domonic Brown homered and drove in four runs for the Phillies, who won in walk-off fashion for the second time in three games. Byrd scored three runs, and Ruiz finished 4-for-6 in the triumph.

Justin De Fratus (1-0) pitched two hitless innings in relief to earn his first win of the season.

Phillies starter A.J. Burnett fanned the first two batters he faced in an easy 1-2-3 top of the first inning but came unraveled in the second. Walks to Curtis Granderson and Bobby Abreu put two on for Lucas Duda, who ripped a double down the first-base line. Abreu moved to third on the two-bagger and scored on Travis d'Arnaud's groundout. Ruben Tejada plated Duda with a single to left, and the Mets owned an early 3-0 lead.

Burnett singled to start the third and scored three batters later on Chase Utley's grounder to second to put Philadelphia on the board.

Brown, who has struggled this season following a breakout 2013 campaign, saw his batting average dip to .199 following a fly to left in the second inning, but it climbed back above .200 with his moonshot to right in the fourth. Byrd walked and Ruiz singled for Brown, who lifted a 2-0 offering over the wall in right to put the Phils in front.

Burnett struck out the side in the fifth, but not before serving up a two-run double to Abreu. Brown's RBI groundout in the home half of the fifth made it 5-5.

Mets starter Rafael Montero remains winless in his career after lasting just 3 2/3 innings in his fourth major league start. Montero was charged with four runs -- three earned -- and seven hits.
