Recap: LA Angels vs. Kansas City

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarrod Dyson scored the game-winning run on a throwing error by Mike Morin in the 13th inning and the Kansas City Royals defeated the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 7-4, in the middle test of a three-game set on Saturday.

Danny Valencia doubled to lead off the 13th and was immediately taken out for pinch-runner Dyson. Alcides Escobar laid down a sacrifice bunt and Morin (0-1) proceeded to commit the throwing error that allowed Dyson to stroll home.

Escobar was then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Pedro Ciriaco and Nori Aoki followed with an RBI single to increase the cushion.

Billy Butler delivered a sacrifice fly to center that scored Aoki and accounted for the final margin.

Aaron Crow (2-1) earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings in relief for Kansas City, which has won two of its last three games.

Greg Holland pitched a 1-2-3 13th inning to earn his 14th save of the season.

Eric Hosmer went 4-for-7, his second four-hit game of the season, and Butler added two RBI in the win.

"We were fortunate to capitalize on a couple of mistakes and our bullpen is the backbone of our team," said Hosmer.

Mike Trout and Erick Aybar each homered for the Angels, who had their three- game winning streak snapped.

"We weren't as crisp tonight defensively or at the plate," said Angels manager Mike Scioscia. "Their bullpen matched us and we couldn't come through."

Following back-to-back singles from Aoki and Hosmer to open the third, Butler drove Aoki in with a sac fly to center that opened the scoring.

Alex Gordon then struck out and Salvador Perez reached on Trout's fielding error in center that should have ended the inning, but instead put runners at the corners.

Lorenzo Cain made the Angels pay for the miscue with a single to left that plated Hosmer for a 2-0 lead.

Escobar singled to lead off the fourth, stole second and third, then scored on a two-out single from Hosmer.

In the fourth, Raul Ibanez doubled before Aybar pulled a shot just over the wall in the right-field corner that cut the deficit to 3-2.

Trout then tied the game in the home half of the fifth with his 10th homer of the season.

Albert Pujols followed with a deep drive to left. Gordon jumped at the wall, knocked the ball down and juggled it as he fell to the ground, securing the catch for an eventful out.

Scioscia challenged the ruling that the ball hit off the wall before Gordon juggled it to the ground. The play was overturned and Pujols was awarded a double, the 2,400th hit of his career.

Pujols moved to third on a David Freese groundout and later scored on a wild pitch by Kansas City starter James Shields.

The Royals loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh and the visitors tied the game when Hosmer crossed home on Perez's double-play groundout.
