Recap: San Francisco vs. Cleveland

San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Hicks smacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday to give the San Francisco Giants a 4-1 win over the Cleveland Indians and a sweep of the three-game set.

Brandon Crawford had an RBI double and Pablo Sandoval added two hits for the Giants, who earned their first sweep of the season.

San Francisco starter Ryan Vogelsong hurled seven scoreless innings, fanning a season-high six while giving up just two hits and two walks. Sergio Romo (2-0) picked up the win after setting down the side in order in the top of the ninth.

Yan Gomes homered for the Indians, who saw starter Danny Salazar allow one run on five hits over seven innings while striking out eight and walking one. Cody Allen (2-1) threw 1 1/3 innings and suffered the loss. Michael Bourn picked up the only other hits for the Indians with two singles.

"We have to start making better adjustments during the game and make it harder for guys to get us out," said Cleveland manager Terry Francona.

With the game knotted at one in the ninth, Buster Posey hit a leadoff single to center. Gregor Blanco dropped down a sacrifice bunt and Crawford was intentionally walked after Sandoval struck out. Hicks followed with a homer to left field.

"It's just an awesome feeling whenever you're able to help the team win in that kind of way," Hicks said.

Earlier, the Giants got on the board in the fourth on back-to-back doubles with two outs. Sandoval hit a double to left field before Crawford ripped a double down the right-field line just out of the reach of first baseman Nick Swisher to plate Sandoval.

Cleveland knotted the game in the eighth when Gomes blasted a leadoff homer to left.
